This work aims to characterize and conceptualize the specificities of classrooms in prison settings, their scope, and their political and pedagogical significance. The reflection is situated within the epistemological and political framework of critical pedagogies and popular education, and develops two notions: firstly, it proposes considering accompaniment, that is, the intersection of teaching, learning, and support, central to practices situated in territories of tension, where training occurs in/against/despite confinement. Secondly, it uses the image of classrooms that flicker to address the complexity of the training experiences that unfold amidst this tension and that are inseparable from both community building and the desire to illuminate the dark and invisible corners of the prison.
