This article analyzes processes of subjectivation in football training, through which young players learn self-techniques oriented toward investment in their own bodies and their own trajectories as a condition for sustaining a professional career. From a socio-anthropological perspective based on biographical interviews with players residing at a training center of a club in the city of Córdoba, the study explores the practices and meanings through which they construct themselves as footballers. The work draws on the theoretical tools of Michel Foucault to address self-techniques understood as the operations through which subjects act upon themselves with the aim of transforming themselves and achieving certain ways of being. The analysis identifies three central dimensions in this process: the desire to become a professional footballer, discipline and care for one's own body, and the mental work required to cope with the uncertainties of a sports career. Finally, these dimensions show that football training involves ongoing work on oneself that organizes the players' daily lives and guides their decisions.
