In this paper, we aim to make a contribution to the analysis of pathological psychogenic inhibitions of bodily functions. This analysis will be carried out in an interdisciplinary way, from the theoretical frameworks of psychoanalysis and phenomenology. To this end, we will draw on a series of Freudian writings and focus on The Psycho-Analytic View of Psychogenic Disturbance of Vision (1910a), which we will first take up in the light of Ricoeur’s (1960) critique of a certain realist conception of the concepts of the unconscious and the drive. In this context, the proposed interdisciplinary articulation will provide us with elements to overcome some of the impasses derived from the realist conception of the concept of drive and will allow us to re-read phenomenologically the concept of drive as Belebungsphänomen. By way of conclusion, we will return with this phenomenological decosifying re-reading of the drive to the analysis of pathological inhibition, which will also provide us with instruments to analyse and de-realise from an interdisciplinary perspective the symptom, the transferential actualisation and the genesis of the transference, as well as its modification and solution in the course of the analytic cure.
