As Frankl (1987/1984) says, the deepest part of the man is the desire for meaning. In that regard, the present work aims to approach, from a theoretical-hermeneutic methodology, an interpretation about the values and about the meaning of work for the teacher in the framework of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis. To do so, in first place, the concept of will to make sense is presented; second, Frankl’s conception of values; thirdly, his classification of values; fourth, the need to educate in the action of valuing; and, fifth, the sense of work for the teacher. From these approaches, we investigate the values as favoring the realization of the will of meaning and the role of the teacher as guide and assistance, "catalyst", of the valuation action aimed at student’s self-configuration. In addition, some ideas regarding the meaning of work for the teacher and his personal fulfillment are derived.
