The well-known essay of Immanuel Kant on the Enlightenment is a kind of porch that enables the entry into his moral, legal, and political thought. The work proposes to consider the Kantian idea of the Enlightenment in the frame of Modernity, and then penetrate some of its ramifications: The public use of reason, rational intersubjectivity, hypothetical contractualism, constitutionalism, the liberal republic and the negative freedom or autonomy.
