Veta Norte is one epithermal vein that constitute La Josefina Project, Patagonia Argentina. This vein is hosted by ignimbrites moderate to strongly altered. By using petrography, X-ray diffraction (XRD), geochemical data of major and traces elements throughout the SVN-D11-315 drillhole, hydrothermal alteration has been characterized in detail. The volcanic rocks are replaced by combinations of mixed-layered illite-smectite, illite, kaolinite, quartz, chlorite, and adularia. Hydrothermal alteration has resulted in the variable gains in K and As forming anomalous halos that surround the vein, which are attributed to potassic feldespars and illite. By contrast, Ca, Na and Sr are variably lost around veins in broadly overlapping zones of depletion.
