My analysis is centered on the mortuaryritual actionthat occurs in the villageof El Cajón, Catamarca, North-West Argentina. In particular, from the field work itself, I examine the contributions of these studies for the analysis of different kinds of transitions in death rituals. Finally, I makean analytical proposal that permits to give an account ofthose cases in which the passingfrom a structural state to the following one is periodically updated, and which I namecyclic liminality.
