This article analyzes the dynamism of the agricultural fuels sector in Argentina, related to the recent agribusiness expansion and in the context of the new strategies of green capitalism. It focuses on the cases of soy based diesel production in the province of Santiago del Estero and corn-based ethanol production in the province of Córdoba. With a Political Ecology approach, considering the territory in its multi-scalarity and complexity, the case studies search for the mechanisms of domination related with green grabbing, and the emergence of resistance and territorial disputes. The results show that agrofuels do not contribute to improving the quality of the environment, but on the contrary: with renewed examples of coloniality of power, they reinforce an extractive agricultural model. For its part, resistance results from struggles for the commons and account for creative and social learning processes that emerge from the territories to build life alternatives in the face of the pronounced dispossession and ruptures that extractivism generates. This knowledge is extremely important in the context of the debate on food sovereignty and on the just and popular energy transition.
