The target of this work is of analyzing the sanitary reforms of the Marquess of Sobremonte in the context of a political and economical scheme determined by the politics of Bourbon for the south of the new American continent. It is not a question of an exhaustive analysis of the measurements carried out by the Marquess in terms of hygiene and care of the health but, from those more paradigmatic, to realize a categorization of the same ones. We depart from the hypothesis of which the reforms that were carried out were not mediated for the medical knowledge. Unlike what many authors see for the case of Europe, in the XVIIIth century in Cordoba the reforms were half-full for the same State, with absence of a medical authority that was imposing its knowledge since, those measurements were directed after there arranged the society and the urban life. But on the other hand in what it refers especially for the attention of the health of the population, although the State intervened, there was no politics in terms to generate and to maintain attention institutions.
