We analyze the exile of the members of the Argentine Party Radical Civic Union (1974-1983). This exile was of a smaller magnitude than others and in addition, the Party maintained its structure in the country during the entire military dictatorship. Because of this particularity, we focus on a double tensión, common to some radical exiles: outwardly, with respect to the international community and the active work of recognition of this "democratic" exile; inwardly, taking into account the apparently "tolerable" actions that the UCR Party undertook with respect to violence and the military dictatorship. We take the exile of Michelangelo Piccato as an excuse to interrogate these tensions. We use material from letters, the press and the magazine La República, published by radicals abroad.
