Digital Humanities are usually defined by emphasizing their intersectional nature. However, the role that technology plays in this definition is rarely analyzed in terms of access and equity inside Academia. The article reviews initiatives on open access and open science in Latin America, and dwells on the possibilities of the open and the public in the region in order to build and democratize knowledge. Secondly, it reflects on the possibilities that the Latin American experiences can bring to an open and global Digital Humanities, to which he adds minimal computing practices as a middle ground inhabited by open source standards and tools that facilitate project building, data reuse and research replicability.
