Schultz’s relationship to politics remains unclarified, partly due to the fact that politics is more closely connected to his life than to his ideas. Moreover, he considers the political not as a fully independent sphere, but rather as one subordinated to social distribution of knowledge and to social structuring processes. This is perceived by some as a vigorous denial of politics, but we suggest we should think of it as re-signification, taking into account that the goal is the transformation of the social world in the hands of the ordinary citizen. Schutz claims that one of the purposes of political action is to achieve the ideal of equality of opportunity from an objective point of view, for which it will be necessary to alter the social context. This transformation would be founded on the pre-political order of the life-world, whose structures would offer the constitutive conditions for such transformation, based on the natural attitude and the human condition.
