This paper analyzes the political impact of the official Peronist aesthetic program using a corpus of postage stamps that the Argentine State produced between 1946 and 1955 in order to affirm its role in the construction and durability of its hegemony. We subscribe to a general semiotics of culture and use the tools of textual semiotics to argue that the sign manipulation produced in the texts from the terms "human figure" and "republic" contributed to the institution of a new code under the politicalideological government’s guidelines and, thus, maintained its relevance in Argentine culture. We conclude by indicating the postulates of a national-popular-Christian humanism as a comprehensive analytical category of the Peronist project. The aim is to contribute to the cultural studies of the first Peronism by demonstrating the semiotic function of aesthetic texts in the affirmation and durability of political projects.
