The “Pilgrim’s Path” is a 28km pedestrian path that connects the high peaks path (provincial route 34) with the town of Villa Cura Brochero in Traslasierra (Cór- doba). It follows the route that the priest Brochero (1840-1914) made on his trips on mule back at the end of the 19th century. Inaugurated by the provincial state in 2016 when the canonization of this priest took place, its reconditioning is part of a broader plan of works financed by the province of Córdoba to revalue and promote for tourism different sites that are considered of heritage value within the Brocherian movement. In this work we address the recent processes of patrimonialization around Brochero deployed by state organizations and the promotion of this heritage as an axis of development through religious tourism, focusing on the case of the “Pilgrim's Path” and one of the pilgrimages that it occur. The data on which we are based comes from the anthropological fieldwork that we are carrying out of the Brocherian movement in contemporary Argentina.
