This study tests the hypothesis about gender differences in performance concerning visual-spatial skill. It also describes the analysis of possible interfering factors such as response speed, the presence of the rotation rule in the items, and secondary education. A Test of Figural Analogies was used, which had been previously calibrated and modelled via Classical Test Th eory and Item Response Th eory. Two purifi ed samples were taken, one containing 475 Psychology students, and the other containing 1,129 students of artistic and design careers. Th eir age means were respectively 21.87 and 21.32. Women accounted for 80% of the fi rst sample and approximately 53% of the second sample. Generally speaking, men outperformed women, but eff ect size varies due to the interfering factors.
