In this article I present the results of a financed social research project, focusing on the experiences and the self-building of people receiving treatment for drug use in religious and spiritual organizations in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For the construction of data we use a qualitative research strategy. To display my problem-questions, I use conceptual tools from social theory and research around narrative identities. I organize the presentation of the results around each of the three central categories that emerge from the analysis of institutional experiences of these people, which I call self-narratives: crisis; transformation; moral reorientation. Finally, I synthesize and articulate these narratives, reflecting on their analytical and political implications for a sociology of agencies.
