This study showcases the results obtained after the application of the Mac Arthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventory (CDI) translated into local Argentinian Spanish. The sample took 111 children attending public kindergarten facilities in La Plata City in connection with sociodemographic indicators. The CDI Form II is a parental report that aims to collect reliable information on the early stages of language development and the first phrases produced by children from 16 to 30 months of age. For data analysis, participants were differentiated into three age groups: 16-20, 21-25, and 26-30 months. The results obtained suggest that language and communication skills increase and become more complex as age advances; that the rhythm of vocabulary learning is heterogeneous; and that in the evaluated ages, participants significantly increase their ability to use language in a decontextualized fashion
