The aim of this paper is to analyze the role “El Club del Orden” displayed in Santa Fe’s local political power struggles throughout the second half of XIX century. This study argues that the association had great political incidence during the most conflictive time period of the State’s construction, more precisely, when political practice still relied on this kind of sociability. Likewise, in the course of XIX century ending years, along with the definitive consolidation of the State and the professionalization of political practices, the club lost its relevance as a place where power was disputed. The empirical sources consulted in order to verify this hypothesis were the Club’s executive committee documents that go from 1853 to 1903. In addition to this and based on the analysis of multiple biographies of the executive committee members, it was examined the part said members took in the political field.
