In the commodification of rurality, geographical imaginaries serve both as a driving force and as a product of the various ways in which places are consumed. In the context of rural tourism, country estates (estancias) have played a central role in this process. This article analyzes how tourism promotion constructs images and narratives that contribute to the reconfiguration of rural imaginaries. Using a qualitative methodology, it examines four representative cases of stay tourism in Argentina, with particular attention to how these discourses and visual representations offer a simplified and sanitized portrayal of rural life. This portrayal often strips away the historical and cultural complexity of rural spaces, reducing them to consumable products that overlook the social processes that have shaped them.
