The Jujuy province in Argentina harbours nueve species of felids equivalent to 25% of the species in the world: jaguar (Panthera onca), puma (Puma concolor), jaguarundi (P. yagouaroundi), ocelot (Leopardus pardalis), Geoffroy’s cat (L. geoffroyi), Oncilla (L. tigrinus), margay (L. wiedii), Pampas cat (L. colocolo) and Andean cat (L. jacobita). The “Quebrada de Humahuaca” is an important intermountain depression of 155 km (NorthSouth). We evaluate if it affects the distributions of the felids, generating niche based distribution models (Maxent), species presence points, 19 environmental and tres topographic variables. As cut-off value we applied the Minimun Training Logistic Threshold. The Quebrada forms a limit in the distributions of jaguar, jaguarondi, ocelot and margay possible acting as a geographic - climatic barrier. The oncilla is distributed more eastern in a restricted area of Yungas. The models of Andean and Pampas cat predict absence of the Quebrada. Puma does not present a discontinuity due to the Quebrada. Geoffroy’s cat finds adequate habitat in the Quebrada and on both sides of it. Despite of being potential distributions and probably overpredicted, this study reveals the influence of the Quebrada on felids distributions in Jujuy.
