From an approach that values the class perspective and its dynamic transformation in an economic-social formation, this article proposes 7 theses on the current social experience of the traditional type of peasantry in the Argentine regions: the structural conditions of exclusion and social marginality; the desegregation of economic activities and pluriactivity; the eco-territorial turn, the dispute and construction of territories; the role of social movements in shaping peasant activism; the processes of re-ethnization and ethnic re-emergence; agroecology and food sovereignty and incorporation into the dynamics of statehood. In our view, these topics make up a “new question” in social studies, they function in an articulated manner and help to understand the structural conditions, the processes of identification and political struggle that the truly existing peasantry goes through.
