This project aims to develop diagnostic tests for tuberculosis (TBB) and paratuberculosis (PTB) in cattle based on detection and quantification of the in vitro production of gIFN that is generated after stimulation of peripheral blood cells with specific antigens. The TBB and PTB are two diseases of high prevalence in our country that generate significant economic losses. Moreover, these diseases are a public health problem, as the TBB is spread from animals to humans and there is some evidence to suggest that the bacteria causing PTB is associated with Crohn’s disease in humans. The officially diagnostic test approved by Senasa is the skin test; however, alternative and parallel tests could improve the diagnosis of these diseases, being the detection of gIFN one of the most viable options. Therefore, the development and production of the tests proposed here will contribute significantly to the control strategies of TBB and PTB with a national product accessible in economic terms.
