This aim of this article is to explore the topic of the utopian project in Un futuro radiante by Pablo Plotkin (2016), a contemporary Argentine novel that can be read as post-apocalyptic fiction in the framework of what we consider the New Argentine Speculative/Anticipatory Narrative (Nueva Narrativa Argentina Especulativa/Anticipatoria in the original Spanish) (Pérez Gras, 2020) or science fiction within the New Argentine Narrative (ciencia ficción de Nueva Narrativa Argentina in the original Spanish) (Vazquez, 2020). In the works written in this century, it is more common to find post-apocalyptic scenarios in which the future is shuttered or constitutes a regression toward the past. Un futuro radiante is one of the few novels written in recent decades in which we can find the utopian drive reflected in a project to rebuild Buenos Aires that does not fail. This choice of location for the utopian enclave contrasts with more common post-apocalyptic settings.
