The sacred monarchies have been one of the most important topics of the political thought in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Times. The Castilian case is not easily put in these discussions, being the French and the English the usually quoted in this sense. This paper deals with the providential dimension of the monarchy of Charles V in times of the Comunidades of Castile, 1520-1521. The royal pardon and the crime of lèse majesté emphasized king’s relationship with the Divinity. Then, one can add some religious arguments to the presence of an idea of monarchy in the conflicts of the Sixteenth Century.
