The objective of this article is to conduct a comparative analysis of Argentine foreign policy during the administrations of Javier Milei (2023–…) and the Cambiemos Alliance (2015–2019). It is also compared with the precedent of the Carlos Menem administration (1989–1999) during the immediate post-Cold War period. This analysis aims to determine the similarities and differences, the results, and the achievements and failures, in terms of the explicit and implicit objectives of the administration led by the leader of La Libertad Avanza, who draws on these two precedents. In all three cases, following the administrations of Raúl Alfonsín, Cristina Kirchner, and Alberto Fernández, foreign policy was justified by the idea that it was necessary to “return to the world”. What were the implications of this orientation in each case, and what changes in the global context explain its viability?.
