The tools provided by the theory of fuzzy sets allow to capture gray zones present in the population standard of living, nuances that are presented not only by subjective nature phenomena, but also by phenomena of situational and contextual character. This paper presents a model to classify households in accordance with the degree of belonging to the set of indigent and poor households. It is determined degrees of poverty and extreme poverty taking into account the household income and the valuation of the basic food basket and the total basic basket.
