The ulexite is the most important comercial borate for South-American countries like Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Argentina. Its main destination is a raw material for the factory of boric acid, fact wich points the difference with the principal world producers, who obtain boric acid from other sources, such as colemanite. Part of the South-American production is sold as concentrated and other part as caldined or frits of ulexite. This paper shows the results of pyrometallurgical tests, carried out to determine the thermochemical properties of a concentrated of ulexite of 90 % of putiry. It were determined the partial dehydration heat at 263,8 °C as well as total dehydration heat at 522,5 °C. Fusion heat was also determined and a mean specific heat of 0,183±0,005 cal /ºC g mineral fed is justified for a range of temperatura of 25 and 1000 °C.
