This article presents the results of the evaluation of the level of psychological well-being in adolescents from San Juan, Argentina, and their associations with gender, parental educational level, place of residence, among other variables. A BIEPS-J scale (Casullo y Castro Solana, 2000) was applied to 499 teenagers aged 17 years old, attending the last or senior year of high school. The results show that 40% of the participating adolescents express low psychological well-being, and women show the lower levels of well-being than men. On the other hand, it is highlighted that adolescents whose parents are highly educated, who live in the favored areas and attend private schools show lower levels of psychological well-being than the rest of adolescents. The implications of these findings are discussed in relation to the theoretical discussions on the construct of well-being and its meanings.
