The genus Ctenomys is widely distributed along Argentina. However, its absence in northern Buenos Aires province since the Late Holocene was considered as the result of climatic changes in the past. In the present paper we report the presence of the species Ctenomys talarum in northeastern Buenos Aires province on the basis of specimens collected at the first half of the XX century. This indicates that the genus do not dissapared from the north of the province along the Holocene, and is present in the region up to the date. However, its distribution was affected since the end of the XIX probably by environmental changes related to climate and/or human activities.
