The Bicentennial emerges as an opportunity to reflect about the process of Independence This paper aims to focus this reflection under the light of two intersecting issues: on the one hand, considering the Emancipation process in South America from a perspective that challenges the colonialist viewpoint; on the other, offering a critical view to reveal the sexism, racism and classism of dominant perspectives. Based on the premise that nobody can stand as a human being without a history/herstory to call her/his own, this paper has been written with a Benjaminian inspiration and it borrows conceptual tools from Silvia Federici´s work.
