Institucionalización científica y financiamiento filantrópico: El Convenio Universidad de Chile-Universidad de California y la Fundación Ford (1965-1975)

Abstract

El Convenio entre la Universidad de Chile y la Universidad de California y financiado por la Fundación Ford (1965-1975), representó un acontecimiento significativo, tanto por el desarrollo académico que generó a nivel de grado y posgrado, como por los beneficios que acarreó para las restantes universidades y para el incipiente sistema científico chileno. En este artículo analizo el contexto en el que se produjo, el financiamiento filantrópico que recibió, las tensiones que surgieron de estas relaciones y las instituciones científicas y académicas que resultaron del mismo.The Agreement between the University of Chile and the University of California financing by Ford Foundation (1965-1975) represented a meaning event in the process of scientific institutionalization into the university field also to the emerging national scientific system. In this article, I analyze the context that produces this agreement, philanthropic funding received, tensions that emerged from this relationship, and scientific and academic institutions produced.
