Based on some of the main concepts about the notion of “archive” proposed by various humanistic disciplines (library science, sociology, history, linguistics, philosophy), this article reports on a recent case of “rescue” from hemerographic archives: the collection of more than 200 articles written by the argentine writer Lucio V. Mansilla and published in the newspaper El Diario from 1906 to 1911, under the column entitled Páginas breves. With the aim of offering a comprehensible process –one that could be replicable in other archival research– this article explains the steps that have mediated between the discovery of the material in the Hemeroteca of the Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno, in Buenos Aires, to the installation of a digital data-based open access platform (www.paginasbreves.ar), which intends to become a didactic tool, as well as a way of preserving and socializing this invaluable literary heritage.
