We analyze the actions of the Department of Physical Culture of the National University of La Plata, between 1929 and 1946, in relation to the formation of femininities from the practice of physical exercises, in the students of the High School for Young Ladies. We deal with the promotion of macropolitical ends, and the moral and aesthetic universe. Starting from a qualitative methodological strategy, we propose the interpretation of a case, not because it represents others, but because it is interesting in itself. We seek to contribute to the distortion of bodily practices in the history of Argentine education. We found that the maternal role was promoted, based on the adherence to the idea of "feminine nature" and the postulates of the eugenicist Boigey. In addition, beauty, grace and sensitivity were considered exclusively for them, advocating that the students never lose their femininity. All of this contributed to preserving the subsidiary, unequal place of women in the Argentine society of that time.
