We present the first results on the nature of the pigments used in the decoration of the different ceramic manifestations of Tambería de Guandacol, west of the Province of La Rioja. The sample analyzed, by Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive Spectrometry (SEM-EDS), includes fragments corresponding to the Technological Styles Sanagasta/ Angualasto, Provincial Inca, Diaguita Chilean Inca and Aguada; material evidence associated primarily to the period of Regional Developments (ca. 1200-1470 AD) and the regional Inca Domain (ca. 1470-1533 AD). The data obtained allow us to infer the existence of inorganic precursors in the preparation of paints and slips of the different styles. In addition, we explore the technological procedures followed during the ceramic firing stage.
