The article reflects on certain historiographical nuclei that converge into what is nowadays defined as socio-environmental issues. Beginning with a brief overview of Environmental History as a historiographical field, it retrieves studies from various historiographical traditions that converge on socio-environmental issues under the hypothesis that some contributions, even without intending to, offer interpretations on the historical relationship between living beings and the environment. At this point, a historiographical balance is attempted based on the Inter-school/Department History Conferences as an analysis laboratory. The work suggests a certain delay of History, with respect to other disciplines, as an interpretive key to address socio-environmental issues, and the possibility of formulating questions that reposition the discipline to engage in dialogue on the subject within the academic and social fields.
