This article pretends to explore the relatively structured field on which is inscribed the political identity of the Movimiento Al Socialismo - Instrumento Politico por la Soberania de los Pueblos (MAS-IPSP) in Bolivia. In relation to this, we argue that political identities do not emerge making tabula rasa, but they retrieve and update speeches which have been already circulating in the political scene and the social imaginaries of a specific context. In that sense, we particularly ask about the role played by the national-popular tradition throughout the MAS´s consolidation process. How does the national-popular tradition to interpellate different actors and demands? Which elements persist and which are modified in relation to the model of the Nacionalismo-Revolucionario in 1952? Which are the main challenges to face with? These, among others, are some of the questions that we will discuss along the text.
