Care work in Argentina accounts for 16.8% of GDP, making it a central component of the economy. This paper examines the advancements and setbacks in care policies between 2019 and 2024, evaluating the initiatives implemented by the Frente de Todos (FDT) government (2019–2023) and the changes introduced under Javier Milei (2023–2024). The article combines content analysis of public documents with quantitative analysis based on budget ans statistic data. The analysis of the policies implemented by the FDT reveals progress in care policies, without achieving structural transformations. Under the new government, a regression is evident, aligned with austerity policies and marked by an ideological reaction to gender institutionalization.
