This study aimed to quantify and characterize the impact of dry and wet events that occurred in the Sauce Grande River basin (Pampas, Argentina) on the morphometry of its main reservoirs, Paso de Las Piedras dam and Sauce Grande shallow lake, during the period 1987-2017. That’s why, the annual series of the Standardized Precipitation and Evapotranspiration Index were analyzed, and seven morphometric indices were calculated from the processing of Landsat satellite images. The area of influence of the Paso de Las Piedras dam and the Sauce Grande shallow lake had alternation of dry and wet events of different duration, intensity, and frequency. The rainfall variability produced changes in the morphometry of the area of these two water bodies. Dry events caused a more significant impact on the dam, whereas wet ones on the shallow lake. The results are an essential database for the designation of policies oriented to the management of the water resources of the Sauce Grande River basin.
