This article examines gender inequalities in workforce management and everyday work life among staff at General Acute Care Hospital San Roque in Gonnet, La Plata. A descriptive, mixed-methods study was conducted to analyze and assess the current state of gendered labor relations within the hospital, using tools such as individual surveys, in-depth semi-structured interviews, and data analysis from the hospital's Human Resources office. The study was carried out between July 2023 and July 2024. The results reveal significant horizontal segregation and a tendency toward vertical segregation, with women predominantly occupying technical and professional roles while remaining underrepresented in leadership positions. In addition, women face clear challenges in reconciling paid work with family responsibilities. Despite their strong presence across many specialties and roles, systematic barriers persist that hinder their advancement to higher hierarchical positions. This study is framed within one of the objectives underpinning the creation of the Intersectoral Committee on Gender(s) and Health (CIGeSa), which seeks to address, in a cross-cutting manner, the progressive transformation of hospital practices, discourses, and institutional arrangements from a gender-sensitive, intersectional, and human rights-based perspective.
