This paper aims at analysing the relationship between some Argentine poets who have published their books in the last fifteen years and the city of Buenos Aires (Fabián Casas, Alejandro Rubio, Martín Gambarotta, Laura Wittner), and is developed within the recent theoretical and sociological research on that city (Sarlo, Gorelik). Focused on studies upon art history and culture dealing with the post-avant-garde production, this article argues for the texts as manifesting, in general terms albeit with certain overtones, a crisis of the traditional concept of representation and the lack of a vital relationship between the poets and their surroundings. In this context, the social figure of the poet becomes that of a discharged god.
