This article explores the characteristics of the labor collectives built during the 60s and 70s around three processes of accelerated industrialisation. Two of these represent poles of development –Brazil and Argentina; the third, Spain, shares some similarities in its dynamics but also demonstrates relevant contrasts. In all three cases, new workers groups consisted of many members who were experiencing factory work for the first time. The article investigates how these groups of workers were constituted, their forms and implementations of collective action, their gender composition, and the influence that industrialization had on their configuration. The study is based on bibliographical survey, the use of journalistic sources and interviews with workers.
