Resumen

The use of rosemary aqueous extracts (ARE) as biostimulants depends heavily on the chemical plasticity of the source material. This study explores the metabolic diversity of several Salvia rosmarinus varieties and clones developed by the INTA breeding program, originating from different Argentine provinces and cultivated in Merlo and Concarán (San Luis). Given our previous characterization of these varieties, which identified a clear gradient in their ability to induce plant protection, we employed UHPLC-based metabolomics to investigate the underlying chemical basis of these differences. The primary objective of this dataset is to distinguish the metabolic fingerprints of protective versus non-protective varieties.

Métodos

Metabolic profiles were generated using Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) to characterize aqueous extracts from a diverse collection of rosemary varieties and clones. These genetic materials, originating from various Argentine provinces as part of an INTA (National Institute of Agricultural Technology) breeding program, were cultivated under standardized conditions in two locations: Merlo and Concarán (San Luis, Argentina). Prior to this analysis, the protective capacity of each variety against stress was biologically characterized. This dataset was specifically designed to facilitate a comparative metabolomic study between "protector" and "non-protector" varieties. The chemical raw data was processed to perform multivariate statistical analysis, aiming to pinpoint specific metabolites and chemical clusters that correlate with high-performance protective phenotypes.
