The drug was loaded onto the matrices using the vacuum solvent evaporation impregnation method. All samples were characterized by N2 adsorption and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Characterization studies showed that ketoprofen was successfully incorporated into the supports and keeping their mesoporous structure. In vitro release assays were carried out in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 6.8). The results obtained were interpreted using four kinetic models, the second-order "Lumped" model presented the best fit. The initial release rate and the amount of total ketoprofen released were independent of the support pore size in the range studied.
