This study was conducted to identify the cognitive potential of teaching practices implemented in Biological Chemistry I for Veterinary Medicine to promote the construction of meaningful learning. A case study was carried out within a qualitative methodological approach. Data collection involved analyzing the current development of BCI and administering questionnaires to teachers and surveys to students. The results revealed valuable perceptions that positively influence ML, highlighting the importance given to the theoretical-practical format of the course, audiovisual materials, the use of digital tools, the implementation of playful activities, and the connection of content with real-life cases. Areas requiring attention were also identified, such as the recognition of curricular content perceived as less appealing by students and the need to provide spaces that foster study techniques and autonomous thinking.
