In this essay we present an analysis about an ongoing doctoral investigation regarding the training of rural teachers in the province of Córdoba, Argentina2 .The current National Education Law Nº 26.206 (Ley de Educación Nacional N.º 26.206) (2006) further specifies and makes reference to Rural Education as being part of the Educational System, and this is important if we consider that rural education was not included within the former Federal Education Law (Ley Federal de Educación) (1993). Since 2004 there has been a remarkable difference in terms of decisions made, programs carried out, and actions taken; all of them directed to schools, teachers, and students from rural areas. We will focus on describing and analyzing some policies directed toward rural education, and, particularly, for training of rural teachers in Argentina.
