In general terms, there is a growing and more active female participation that demands access to the university. This is manifested in the high percentage of female applicants in the different programs. Despite this, in most cases the number of Afro-Colombian women admitted remains below that of men. There is also a greater permanence and female graduation in the different programs. In any case, despite the achievements, there is a strong structural inequality in education in the country, which affects AfroColombians in particular.
