Resumen

This dataset comprises two complementary components designed to support the taxonomic identification and toxicological assessment of Gyromitra specimens from southern South America. The first component consists of a molecular reference dataset including nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS), large subunit (LSU), and elongation factor-1 alpha (EF-1α) sequences, generated to enable robust phylogenetic identification. All analyzed sequences correspond to Gyromitra antarctica- (Patagonia-Argentina). The second component includes a specimen-based dataset derived from 82 fresh collections obtained along a Patagonian elevation gradient (300–800 m a.s.l.). This dataset integrates collection metadata (e.g., elevation, locality) with quantitative measurements of hydrazine content. Together, these datasets provide an integrated resource linking molecular identification, ecological variables, and toxin quantification, enabling the analysis of elevation-dependent variation in hydrazine content and supporting risk assessment associated with the consumption of wild Gyromitra.

Otro

Terra Climate—Monthly database (Abatzoglou et al. 2018) for the period Sep 2024 to Dec 2024 (https://app.climateengine.org/climateEngine). Hydrazine detection was performed following the method proposed by Amlathe and Gupta (1988), based on the condensation of hydrazine with vanillin in an acidic medium to form a yellow Schiff base, with minor modifications.

The calibration curve followed the linear regression equation y = 0.253x + 0.003, where y represents absorbance and x the concentration of hydrazine sulfate (μg/mL) (R² = 0.999). Results were expressed as milligrams of hydrazine equivalents per kilogram of fresh weight (mg HE/kg FW), considering the molecular weights of hydrazine sulfate (N₂H₆SO₄ = 130.118 g/mol) and hydrazine (N₂H₄ = 32.045 g/mol)
