The shapes that spatial distribution of groups acquires in urban areas constitute a longstanding concern in social sciences. In this line, socioeconomic level and migration status are frequently used variables in studies interested in understanding how and why there is a differential location of social groups within urban space. This paper analyzes the spatial distribution of population living in the Gran Buenos Aires urban area, exploring the connection between differentiation by socioeconomic level and migration condition. Statistical and cartographical analysis is performed using a fractional-mapping census data based on Census of Population, Households and Housing 2001. This article aims to investigate in what measure the socioeconomic and the migratory dimensions intersect each other in the context of intra-urban spatial distribution and differentiation processes.
