Enfermedad y terror: Cuentos de amor, de locura y de muerte, de Horacio Quiroga

Abstract

En este artículo procuro indagar en los procedimientos que definen el texto de Quiroga como un exponente autoral que alterna complejamente entre el modernismo y el naturalismo. Los dispositivos epistémicos de la enfermedad y del cuerpo constituyen los reservorios de argumentos y concepciones cientificistas al tiempo que esos mismos motivos sostienen exploraciones artísticas y estéticas en sintonía con el contexto histórico en que se enmarca el autor.In this work I try to analyze the book of stories, Tales of love, madness and death, de Horacio Quiroga. From this perspective, I point out the dynamics developed between the currents of modernism and naturalism, configuring a complex sense based on procedures and images that constitute paradoxical and surprising effects. I try to develop the tension that characterizes Horacio Quiroga's prose in his own way, the axis of the disease, and how it takes on a unique shape in the context of the early years of the 20th century.
