At the beginning of the 1940s, the Argentine State denounced the advance of so-called “communist activities” to support a repressive policy whose main executing arm was the Special Section for Repression against Communism of the Capital Police. However, the jurisdiction of said agency transcended the limits of Buenos Aires. According to confidential and reserved documents, the Special Section acted in collaboration with different police agencies of the national territories and other security forces. Thus, everything from raids and arrests to internal deportations of militants placed at the disposal of the National Executive Branch were carried out. In this work we propose to analyze such repressive deployment in the territories of Chaco, Misiones, La Pampa and Chubut and evaluate how it affected the tools of containment of the communist problem within the framework of the state of siege dictated by the war situation.
